An AEISG delegation participated in the 64th session of the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and the 46th session of the Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), held in Geneva from 24 June to 5 July 2024. The AEISG delegation consisted of Richard Bilman, CEO AEISG as Head of Delegation and Mr. Ken Price as AEISG Advisor.

AEISG submitted three working papers for consideration by both the TDG and GHS, with all papers being discussed in detail within the UN Explosives Working Group (EWG), 24 to 27 June, prior to presentation and discussion at plenary sessions of TDG and GHS.

In addition, AEISG and the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) developed and presented a joint, informal paper “Proposal to review requirements of Test Series 8 for assessing the suitability of Ammonium Nitrate Emulsions (ANEs) for the transport in portable tanks”, focused upon reviewing the appropriateness of historical tests developed for the transport of ANEs.

All AEISG papers and recommendations for potential amendments to the Model Regulations, GHS and the Manual of Tests and Criteria, were well received.
